Nigeria Fined $5,000 By CAF For Overcrowding The Kaduna Stadium In Nations Cup Qualifier

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), Africa's football ruling body, earlier this morning fined the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) $5,000 for allowing the Kaduna stadium become overcrowded during the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Egypt back in March.

The gates of the Kaduna stadium were made open for fans to come watch the all-important qualifier for free which ended in a one-all scoreline.

The 15,000 capacity stadium in Kaduna was filled to the brim as a result of the free viewing and in the end, over 40,000 spectators were said to have trooped into the stadium, with so many fans having to sit on the floors, flood lights and score boards.

With this scenario, CAF fined the NFF $5,000, saying such scenarios puts the lives of the players and officials at risk of crowd violence.
