Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers - Nigeria In Group Of Death
Earlier today, the draws for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup was made, and our Super Eagles of Nigeria (still without a coach) was drawn in the famous tag, "Group Of Death".
Group B, where the 2013 AFCON Champions lead by the late Big Boss, Stephen Keshi are placed, consists of 2012 AFCON Champions 'The Chipolopolo of Zambia', current highest ranking team in Africa 'The Desert Foxes of Algeria', and finally perennial contenders 'The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon'. As the NFF, led by Amaju Pinnick are still struggling to name a coach for the senior national team, pundits and sports fans alike are already tipping the Super Eagles to once again miss out on the next World Cup taking place in 2018.
Below is the full listing of all the groups to compete for a place in Russia;
.
GROUP A
1. Tunisia
2. Libya
3. Congo DR
4. Guinea
.
GROUP B
1. Zambia
2. Cameroon
3. Algeria
4. Nigeria
.
GROUP C
1. Gabon
2. Mali
3. Cote d'Ivoire
4. Morocco
.
GROUP D
1. Senegal
2. South Africa
3. Burkina Faso
4. Cape Verde
.
GROUP E
1. Ghana
2. Egypt
3. Congo
4. Uganda
.
Can the Eagles soar high above these tough opponents and book a place in the footballing festival? Or should we forget qualifying and rather start preparations for the 2022 World Cup taking place in Qatar? Which five teams from each group would qualify to represent Africa? For me, Tunisia, Algeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Cape Verde and Ghana are my favorites.
