Can Manchester City Continue Writing History By Doing The Unthinkable Tonight?

Its less than 2hrs 30mins to the clash and already sport fans and bookmakers are predicting a whitewash and a stroll in the park for the Spanish giants. Last week's barren draw was by no means a fair result for the former English champions at
the Etihad stadium, but this time they have it all to do against a Read Madrid team that haven't conceded at home in a Champions League match in nearly a year.

Much of Real Madrid's chances hinge on whether they can recover Cristiano Ronaldo for the second leg tonight. The former Ballon D'or winner has scored 17 goals in the Champions League this season, just one less than Man City have managed as a team so far.

Real Madrid have only failed to win 2 of their last 20 home matches in the Champions League and have also failed to win 3 of their home matches all season. This could definitely prove a massive Herculean task for Manuel Pellegrini's men, even though I foresee an upset in the cards.

TEAM NEWS

 Real Madrid

  • Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to full training after missing the first leg and is expected to feature in the starting XI. Karim Benzema, however, is certainly ruled out.
  • Casemiro will also need a late fitness test and is a huge doubt after missing training in the last two days. Zinedine Zidane could revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

  • Yaya Toure has returned to training after he missed the first leg through injury and could deputise in the absence of the injured David Silva.
  • It remains to be seen whether Pellegrini would return to Raheem Sterling or persist with Jesus Navas.

My Possible Line-Ups
Real Madrid Starting XI: Navas, Pepe, Ramos, Carvajal, Modric, Kroos, Bale, James Rodriguez, Vasquez, Ronaldo

Man City Starting XI: Hart, Clichy, Otamendi, Kompany, Sagna, Fernando, Fernandinho, Navas, Toure, De Bruyne, Kun Aguero

Prediction Real Madrid 2 - 2 Manchester City
