Happy 28th Birthday Adele

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, the multiple Grammy Award winner whom we all know as "Adele" and titles albums after the age she was when it was written, born on the 5th of May, 1988, is an English singing sensation and songwriter from Tottenham, England. Her debut album, "19", released in 2008, was certified seven times platinum in the UK, and double platinum in the US. A single from the "19" album, 'Chasing Pavements' peaked at #2 on the UK charts and stayed there for 4 weeks.

She released her second studio album, "21", which was inspired by the break-up with her former partner. Her first three singles "Rolling In The Deep" , "Someone like You" and "Set Fire To The Rain" topped the Billboard Hot 100, Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 chart, Ryan Seacrest's American Top 40 and other charts in multiple markets and broke numerous sales performance records.

She wrote, composed and recorded the theme song for Skyfall, the twenty-third James Bond film back in October 2012. The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #8, selling 261,000 copies in the US in its first three days.

Her third album, "25", produced the lead single "Hello" which went on to top the charts in Nigeria, Australia, France, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland and Germany and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first song in the US to sell at least one million downloads in a week, setting the record at 1.11 million. Her second single, "When We Were Young" managed to make it into the top 10 on the Weekly Top 40.

Her throwback soulful voice has definitely made her an international success and would surely remain a legend in the hearts of so many of us.

Happy Birthday, Adele!
